Jayne Stokes

Jayne graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1996 with a first class honours degree in drawing and painting; latterly she studied at Winchester School of Art in Barcelona graduating with an MA in Fine Art in 1998.

Jayne, like many other people takes endless snapshots of the journeys she makes. Painting is a tool which enables her to study the landscape in more depth "a photograph takes a fleeting moment whereas a painting can take hours, weeks and sometimes months to create." Her paintings capture the depth of textures and colour as layer upon layer of paint is applied and manipulated.

Her work is held in many public and private collections including those of East Lothian Council, Art in Healthcare, Standard Life Aberdeen and Grizedale Arts. She is currently represented by the Open Eye Gallery, Tatha Gallery & Fidra Fine Art . She is a professional member of the Society of Scottish Artists.
