Samantha McCubbin

Samantha was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1988. A creative person from a young age, she discovered her love of painting during her final year of studying Art and Design at The University of Leeds. Since graduating she has continued to paint and develop her own unique style which is always changing and evolving.

Samantha's paintings are primarily floral based. She doesn't like to paint an image 'exactly' but instead uses the qualities of the paint to create the painting. The paint almost becomes the 'theme' itself. She paints in oils and loves this medium due to its versatility. An accidental splash of paint may be the catalyst to creating a beautiful abstract floral painting. It is the element of surprise and the unknown which excites her and makes her paintings unique. She also likes the idea of the viewer seeing her paintings in different ways and them being open to interpretation. They are in the 'eye of the beholder'.

She is inspired by the world around her; colours, textures, flowers, gardens and sunsets to name a few. Her paintings are a result of what she sees, what is imagined and how the paint responds on the canvas.

Samantha works from her artist studio in Glasgow at 'The Wasps, Hanson Street' and has had success selling her paintings to collectors worldwide.
